Neil A Costa

We regret to advise that Mr Neil A Costa passed away
suddenly on Wednesday October 27, 2004.

Neil Costa Dip.T.; B.Ed; Grad.Dip.Ed.Admin.; M.Ed.Stud.; M.Sc.; M.Ed.Admin.; M.A.; F.A.I.M.; M.A.C.E.; S.I.A. (Aff.) was a professional private trader and a technical trading educator.  

Neil first traded the stock market as a Year 9 student at high school, 35 years ago.

On the professional front, Neil was a mathematics and science teacher, the head of a science department, a part-time university lecturer in a range of subjects to masters' degree level, an advisor to two Ministers for Education and a director in the Queensland Public Service. He was also a director of the National Training Board Ltd, and an alternate director of the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd.

For six years Neil was General Manager of a company that trained traders. During this time he trained or oversaw the training of many traders, ranging from absolute beginners to super traders. It was during this period that he was made a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

Neil lectured in technical analysis and stock market investment for the Securities Institute of Australia (FINSIA). He was a member of the Securities Institute of Australia's Open Entry Academic Advisory Committee.

Neil was the first Queensland President of the Australian Technical Analysts' Association (ATAA) and held the positon for some eight years. He addressed numerous ATAA meetings in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Toowoomba, plus three ATAA national conferences. In 2003 he became an Honorary Life Member of the Association and later the National President of the association.

Neil also addressed meetings of the Master Technicians Association (MTA) of the United States in Chicago, Cincinnati and Atlanta, and the Society of Technical Analysts of New Zealand (STANZ). He was also a keynote speaker at one of STANZ' conferences. He presented sessions at Australian Investors' Association Conferences, and at Traders Expos throughout Australia.

Neil's trading seminars have been conducted in all Australian mainland States, in Singapore, New Zealand and in the United States of America.

In addition to his work with Market Masters, Jason Sidney is also the Managing Director of Market Insight Pty Ltd. For many years, Jason had the privilege to work and be personally mentored by Neil Costa.    

Jason Sidney, past QLD President and a previous director of the Australian Technical Analyst Association, is a professional technical analyst with over 12 years' experience in the financial services industry. He lectures for the Financial Institute of Australasia (Finsia), the leading provider of professional financial services education in Australia and New Zealand.  Jason also produces a fortnightly subscription newsletter, “Analyst Insight®”.  This newsletter uses recent market examples to teach advanced technical analysis techniques. He gains great satisfaction from conveying highly technical information in a way that the average person can use and understand.

Jason's experience, knowledge and standing in the industry has made him a regular contributor to a number of leading publications. These have included “Your Trading Edge”, “Chart Point”, “The Traders Journal” and “The Weekend Australian”. 

He has also been interviewed on international talk back radio and has been a key-note speaker at many industry expositions.
