Q I am currently starting on the journey to learn to trade. Relatively recently I have become interested in the sharemarket and have spent some time reading on both investing and trading. I have found that there is a morass of stuff out there on the net, much of it contradictory, confusing and very expensive. I suspect that it could be counterproductive to try and learn to trade from reading masses of books, taking various courses and trying to set up my own trading system from what I have learned. Accordingly I have been looking for some self contained way to try and learn to trade, something that can get me from the start to trading successfully in one go. It would preferably include a form of successful trading system as well as the rules for using it successfully

A There are many books and courses that claim to teach you how to trade. Most have something to offer, however sifting through it all can be a daunting, time consuming and expensive process. You must also make sure you choose a book or course that teaches you how to select stocks, enter and manage trades, and, of course, how to manage your trading capital. I suggest you start by reading the articles on Neil Costa's web site www.marketmasters.com.au). He has a number of articles to help the beginner to get started, and is adding more all the time. Neil's course is the most comprehensive I have found. It deals specifically with trading the share market.
| His personal assistance will help ensure that you understand the course, but you must put in the time to study the materials and paper trade the methodology. Neil's course is the only one I know of that offers a 30 day money back guarantee. Two other books worthy of mention: Listen To The Market: Your Personal Guide to Technical Analysis by Ivan Krastins, published by McGraw Hill and Trading For A Living by Dr. Alexander Elder, published by John Wiley & Sons.
